The women’s team delivered an outstanding performance at the Nordic League Finals Weekend, returning home with a well-earned bronze medal after a series of intense and high-quality matches against European teams.
Having progressed to the finals weekend among the top eight teams, the squad showed their strength and determination right from the quarter-final stage. Facing Italian side Lazio Nuoto, the team produced a composed and clinical display to secure a 13–10 victory. Leading the charge was Lucy Blenkinship, who delivered a standout performance with four goals and an impressive five penalties drawn, earning her the well-deserved Player of the Match award.
The next game saw the team come up against a strong Benfica side. Despite a battling effort, Benfica proved too sharp on the day, handing out a 14–7 defeat. While the result was disappointing, the team quickly regrouped and refocused ahead of the bronze medal play-off.
In what proved to be a dramatic and nail-biting contest, the bronze medal match showcased the team’s resilience and composure under pressure. The game remained tightly contested throughout and ultimately went to a penalty shootout to decide the outcome. In a moment of true brilliance, Sophie stepped up between the posts, producing a crucial save to secure a 14–13 victory and clinch the bronze medal.
A special mention goes to Katy Cutler, who was named Player of the Match contributing four goals and three steals.
