City of Manchester Water Polo Club is thrilled to announce the Mike Glover Cup – A Winter Festival of Water Polo will take place on Saturday, 11th January, at the Manchester Aquatics Centre. This highly anticipated tournament will bring together 28 teams from across the country, competing across three age groups, in what promises to be an unforgettable day of high-level water polo action.
The tournament has been renamed the Mike Glover Cup to honour the remarkable legacy of Mike Glover, co-founder and former President of the City of Manchester Water Polo Club, as well as a former Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) President. Mike Glover’s contributions to British water polo span over three decades, including his impactful roles as water polo coach at Bolton School and as Head Coach of the GB Women’s Team. Widely regarded as one of the sport’s most influential figures, Mike’s dedication and vision continue to inspire the water polo community.
Theo Nousios, Head of Performance at City of Manchester Water Polo Club, shared his excitement about the upcoming tournament:
“The Mike Glover Cup is more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of Mike’s enduring legacy and the vibrant water polo community he helped build. Hosting teams from across the country reflects the growing passion for this sport, and we’re proud to provide a platform for players to showcase their talent and dedication.”
