We are thrilled to announce Paul Blenkinship as the new chairman of City of Manchester Water Polo Club. Paul takes on this prestigious role with great enthusiasm, calling it an “honour” to work with the committee to drive the club forward, particularly in its European ambitions.

A Wealth of Experience on All Fronts
Paul brings over 20 years of professional experience in commercial sales, primarily in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. His career outside the pool has been marked by strategic thinking and leadership—qualities that will undoubtedly benefit the club.

On the sporting side, Paul’s roots lie in competitive swimming, after which he took on new challenges in rugby league and even played football for Aston Villa. His connection to water polo is deeply personal as his son plays for the Men’s First Team, and his daughter represents both the U19s and the Women’s First Team. Having witnessed their progression through the club’s ranks, Paul is well-versed in the inner workings and values of our community.

Vision for the Future
As chairman, Paul is committed to several key objectives:

Inspiring the next generation: Paul is passionate about bringing more children into the sport and expanding the club’s youth development programs.
Strengthening financial support: With his commercial expertise, Paul aims to secure more funding to bolster the club’s resources and ambitions.
Excelling in Europe: With the men’s and women’s teams having competed in Europe over the past two years, and the U16 boys set to follow suit, Paul is determined to enhance the club’s international performance.
“It’s a very exciting time to be involved with this club,” Paul shared. “Our talent pool is incredible, and I look forward to building on our success both locally and on the European stage.”

Thank You
We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Martin Howe for his dedication and hard work during his tenure as chairman. His leadership has been instrumental in laying the foundation for the club’s current and future successes.
