The City of Manchester Water Polo Club has once again proven its dominance in the British Water Polo League (BWPL) by securing both the men’s and women’s Super 5s titles for the second consecutive year. This remarkable achievement marks the sixth consecutive title for the women’s team, solidifying Manchester’s position at the forefront of British water polo.

The BWPL is the premier water polo competition in the UK, featuring the top teams from across the country. The league is divided into several divisions, with the Super 5s representing the elite level where the best five teams compete in a round-robin format to determine the overall champions. The City of Manchester’s consistent success in this league highlights their exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.

This season also marks a significant milestone for the club as it bids farewell to one of its most esteemed players, Joe O’Regan. Known affectionately as ‘Big Joe,’ Joe will hang up his water polo cap after an illustrious 20-year career with the club. Throughout this time he has won five league titles, one British Championships Cup, and represented Great Britain at the Olympics. His contributions to the team and the sport have been invaluable, and he leaves behind a legacy of excellence and dedication.
