Meet the Captains
DAN PADDON
Men’s First Team Captain
Dan captains the Men’s first team competing in the 1st division of the British water polo league.
Dan started his water polo career at the age of 14 in his home town club, Chelmsford. In 2015 he moved to University in Manchester and joined City of Manchester water polo club. He made his debut for GB u19s the following year.
Dan regularly represents England and GB water polo senior teams and has numerous awards and achievements including, representing GB in the university games – finishing in the top eight, EU Nations gold winner, 3 times British Water Polo League champion, British champion, winner of the Champions cup and top goal scorer in the British Water Polo League 2019.
Dan is also the City of Manchester coach for the Hawks and junior water polo teams and GB coach for U18 boys.
MICHAEL PATTERSON
MEN’S FIRST TEAM CAPTAIN
Mikey brings a wealth of experience and talent to captain the men’s first team at COMPWPC. Mikey has many achievements including 3 x British Water Polo Champion and winning the British University and College Sports (BUCS) Championships 3 times.
Mikey’s experience expands to competing in European championships, and EU Nations gold medal winner. Mikey also qualified for the u19 European Championships.
Izzy Howe
Women’s First team captain
Izzy captains the 1st team for City of Manchester, playing in the 1st division of the British water polo league.
Izzy started her water polo career at the age of 11 and advanced through the age groups. Izzy now
Izzy has multiple water polo achievements, including representing GB at European and World Championships and at World Student games
Jade Smith
women’s first team captain
Jade captains the women’s first team for City of Manchester, competing in the 1st division of the British Water Polo league.
Jade started her water polo career at the age of 11 when her brother introduced her to the game and has never looked back.
Jade has many achievements in water polo including, captain of the junior GB team in the world championships, representing GB at senior world championships, competed in the European championships multiple times, gold medallist at the commonwealth games and selected as the reserve athlete for the GB team for the 2012 Olympics water polo team. In 2013/14 Jade played for CN Mataró in Spain, finishing 2nd in the league.
Jade plays goalkeeper for CoM and leads the team in a chilled out style, sharing her experience and learnings with the younger members of her team.
When Jade is not playing water polo she keeps busy looking after her two boxer dogs and working in Event Management, recently working on the Rugby World Cup.
DAVID TEASDALE
Hawks Captain
David started playing water polo at the age of 11 at school and loved it instantly. David has played for City of Manchester Water Polo since 2001, playing centre back and position 1 / 2 and has captained the Hawks team since 2016/17. David is the highest capped Hawks player in history.
David has many water polo achievements including Manchester Hawks Coaches Player of the Year in 2017/18, 2018/19, 2019/20. In addition he has achieved 2nd place at the British Water Polo Festival in 2022, Championship 2 Winner with Manchester Hawks 2021/22, , Championship 3 Winner with Manchester Hawks 2017/18, 2nd Place Finish in Super 5s 2014/15, 3rd Place finish in British Championships in 2015. David has also spent time playing overseas in Malta, Hungary, Malaysia, Germany and France.
David leads the Hawks by example, working hard, being respectful and always open to ideas and feedback from other teammates.
When he is not playing for the Hawks, David teaches at Bolton School and coaches multiple school water polo teams.
