Hawks in Grantham

Manchester Hawks match review for the weekend 15 - 16 Oct

The Hawks played Southampton on Saturday, this was a very close match which the Hawks lead through- out, until the last 25 seconds of the 4th quarter where they came back to end the game at 8-8..

The Hawks play in front of goal was excellent and scored 2 great goals from patient build up play. Jimmy Salt led the scoring with 3 goals with Tom Hadley and Jos Winstanley getting 2 each. Elliot Makin was impressive once again in goal making 3 outstanding saves. Jack Philips made his senior debut contributing well to the team. It was a shame we couldn’t hold on for our first win of the season.

On Sunday we played Cambridge, it was a very early start, the first quarter was very close between the two teams and Hawks played some good polo, the Hawks went downhill from there, the rest of the game we didn’t play very well as a team, we rushed our attack’s and wasted our ‘man up’ positions when they came our way.

Some of the referee decisions went against us, where they should have been for us. James Salt led the scoring once again with 3 goals with James Moffat adding another 2, the match ended 6-12.
