Hawks reviews 2017
Match review for CoM Hawks team Weekend of 7/8
Our first game of Phase 2 was against Castleford, in which Sam Darlington made his senior debut, we started slowly and conceded 2 goals early in the first quarter; goals from Joe Carr and Jimmy Salt brought us back in the game, ending the quarter losing 2-3. The second quarter started with Elliot Makin making two great saves and 2 goals from Jimmy Salt bringing the score to 4-7.
The third quarter was very difficult for us and by the end of the quarter we were losing 5-9. Starting the fourth quarter with two quick goals from James Moffat and Tom Hadley, this seemed to deflate Castleford and we put together some good passages of play. Goals from Jimmy Salt and Michael Patterson brought the score back to 10-10 where the game ended.
The second match was against Portobello, a very strong, fast team with a good mixture of experience and youth. They broke fast and played the ball quickly and by the end of the first quarter we were 1-3 down.
We never really recovered from this and with the only goal in the second quarter from Conner Lynch we were losing 2-8. In the third quarter Portobello applied pressure and we were losing 3-10 going into the fourth quarter, with good goals from Dave Teasdale, Tom Hadley and Jimmy Salt we brought the score back to 6 – 12 losing to a strong team.

Our second match of the day was against Otter, where Tom Hadley put in a man of the match performance to give us a great win, scoring 4 goals, creating space and some great passes especially one to Michael Patterson which he scored from. Jimmy Salt added to the tally with 4 goals and Joe Carr with 2 goals of his own. Winning the match 12-8. Our third and last match was against York, and on paper we should have won this game, we had the better play, we had more of the ball but out of 13 man up’s we only scored from 2. I still don’t know how we lost this match. With goals from Joe Carr, Jimmy Salt and 3 outstanding save’s from Elliot Makin we lost a very close game 5-6.
